The Night of the Museums will be celebrated in Tampere on 16 May 2026
Tampere’s beloved and vibrant cultural festival, Night of the Museums, will be celebrated in Tampere on Saturday, 16 May 2026. Organized now for the 17th time, the event invites residents and visitors to discover museums and other cultural venues in Tampere with a rich programme of exhibitions, performances, guided tours, workshops and much more. The event begins at 18:00, and most venues are open until midnight.
This year, Night of the Museums features 25 venues and approximately 100 programme activities. In addition to exhibitions and guided tours, visitors can enjoy a wide range of experiences and activities from music performances to hands-on workshops, quizzes, demonstrations, artist meetings and expert encounters. Museum cafés, restaurants, pop-up food stands, and museum shops will also serve visitors throughout the night.
The Night of the Museums is part of the popular La Nuit des Musées / Lange Nacht der Museen events celebrated throughout Central Europe. In recent years, the participating museums and cultural venues in Tampere have attracted approximately 10,000 visits during the event.
Admission to all participating venues and activities is granted with an event wristband which costs 18 euros (17 euros with the Museum Card). Children under 7 can participate free of charge. The wristband also includes free transport on the Museoiden yö / Night of the Museums -buses.
Two Museoiden yö / Night of the Museums -buses operate between the participating venues from 18:00 to 23:00. The first bus departs from Museum Centre Vapriikki at 18:00, with departures approximately every 30 minutes. The last departure from Vapriikki is at 22:30. Buses stop at designated Night of the Museums stops marked on the event map. Passengers can board the buses by showing their event wristband. The buses also feature onboard programme: authorized Tampere tourist guides will give nonstop guided tours from 18:00 to 22:30 and tell the best bits about Tampere’s history, attractions and, of course, museums!
